We Millennials sure do love our fur babies. Nowadays, most friends I know don’t have kids yet, instead, we’re trial running with our beloved dogs and cats. My animals are my babies. YES, they do sleep on the bed, and YES, the couch is shared with them. They’re more than just pets; they’re family.
Just like parents get separation anxiety, most paw-parents will agree: the same thing happens with our fur babas. The “I can’t leave you alone” feels are all too real. My hubby and I love travelling with our three doggos, but it does often throw a spanner in the works when hunting down pet-friendly accommodation Western Cape.

If you share similar sentiments, I’ve clocked in some amazing, paw-approved pet friendly accommodation Cape Town’s surroundings for when you need to get away, escape the city heave and just chill out in nature.
1. Trendy: Ashanté Boutique Retreat
Escape to a tranquil piece of reverie at Ashanté Boutique Retreat, where toasty moments by the fire are welcomed! Cosy up on the deck beneath the stars, or as the sun begins her rise in the fresh mornings, shadowed by the Cederberg mountains.

This eco cabin is the type of stay that whisks you away to European shores decor-wise. And yes, you will want to add every crevice to your latest Pinterest board, trust me on this one! Think screeded textures, woods, artsy pendant lights, Smeg appliances (yay) and wishbone chairs. It’s giving Mallorca for sureeee.
Oh, and wait until you catch sight of the floating bathtub, best enjoyed with a glass of vino and drinking in the vistas in front of you via the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
Secluded and off-grid, it’s the perfect playground for your pups. Just make sure you keep your eyes on them as it’s not fenced pet friendly accommodation Western Cape.

2. Farm life: Kromrivier Farm
Close your eyes real quick and you’d swear you were in Switzerland. Alas, we’re still here in the beauty that is South Africa, more specifically on a totally private farm at the foothills of the Riviersonderend Mountain Range.
Throughout my decade+ long years of travelling, the same thought often arises: ‘In SA, we’ve really got it all when it comes to landscape.’
Meander in between the lemon trees (as well as persimmons, citrus and prickly pears), and if you own a herder breed, like my border collie Mowgli, they’ll have a whale of a time with the sheep and cattle.

Only certain units are deemed pet friendly accommodation Western Cape, and you will have to contact the property directly to pre-organise your stay with your doggies.

3. Among the olive groves: The Olive Pod
Nespresso machine? Check! Fireplace right next to your bed to keep your toes toasty when winter rolls around? Check! Slow mornings are most certainly a thing at The Olive Pod.

As the name gives away, this peaceful hideaway is located on a working wine and olive oil farm, also with a fruit orchard and cute herb garden on the property. I especially love the Kolkoll wood-fired outdoor tub.
Your accommodation is built luxe cabin-style, with the groves and vineyards as your backdrop, along with the tippy tops of the mountain range peeking out to say ‘whatsup.’ The entire scene is utterly delicious around sunset. And you certainly feel worlds away.
There is one pet friendly farm accommodation Western Cape unit available upon request which you’ll need to contact the property directly to arrange.

4. Beach Vibes: Strandhaus
Wake up to the sound of the ocean a couple meters away, and feel instantly transported to a Greek island at the Strandhaus. An idyllic pet friendly self catering accommodation Western Cape getaway.

It’s got everything to love about this part of the Western Cape, from location to those classic Paternoster interiors, where the house drips in nautical blues and whites.
I particularly die over the ocean snapshots from the upper floor balcony — you’ll find me here every morning, slowly sipping on my morning cuppa with a delicious book in hand. This is one of my top pet friendly accommodation Western Cape, but I’m a little biased because I am UTTERLY in love with Paternoster…Plus, it’s superrrr affordable!
It’s ideal for groups of friends with its five bedroom, four bathroom-sleeper, and the home is equipped with everything you need, from a fully operational kitchen to indoor braai area.
📍Where? Paternoster
Guest Reviews: “We had such a great time, the house was very chilled, perfect for family and friends. Very close walk to the beach, to take the dogs for a swim.” – SA
5. English countryside vibes: Cheverells Farm
Who doesn’t love a gorgeous little farm stay, especially the ones on offer around this part of South Africa? What is it about the Western Cape; they’ve just got their farm style down to a fine art! And each countryside-style cottage here makes you want to escape from the world and spend a weekend (or five) huddled away from life. Ya know, the same sort of feels you get in the English countryside. Or, the type of stay that makes you want to escape the world and write a romance novel.

There is one cottage on the farm that allows you to bring your fur babies along. Just one hour outside of Cape Town, it’s a wonderful locale if you’re searching for pet friendly accommodation near Cape Town.
The stoep (patio) is where you’ll catch me, chilling beneath the wrapping grape vines with a glass of wine, the hubby and my doggies.
On site of this working fruit farm is a gorgeous little gourmet cafe and farm stall! Here in the peak of summer? The dam is calling your names!

Guest Reviews: “Stunning cottage situated in the heart of a working fruit farm. Stunning views from the veranda which we soaked in as much as we could. A beautiful dam is available for guests to swim in which we took advantage of. Our dog loved it too. We will definitely be back.
The coffee shop/ restaurant on the farm serves some of the tastiest meals we have had in ages, and the surrounding wine farms had lovely tasting.” – SA
6. Lord of the Rings feels: Underhill Farm
Calling all LOTR fans! What if I told you that there was a pet friendly accommodation Western Cape, where you’d half expect Frodo Baggins and Samwise to pop up at any given moment…?
Full of rustic charm, other than the Hobbit Hollow cottage, there are a few other options to take your pick, including those that are a little more luxurious if that’s your preferred style.

The entire setting feels very artsy, and it’s a wonderland for artists and dreamers. It gives me the same sort of feels as the accommodation you’d find in parts of Thailand, specifically hippie-haven, Pai.
But most importantly, it’s won awards for its pet-friendly pursuits (every single cottage is pet-friendly, has fully enclosed gardens and loads of space) ANDDDD the entire farm is eco-friendly, ‘dedicated to sustainable living by example through upcycling, recycling, and reusing every possible aspect on our property.’ It’s an excellent fenced pet friendly accommodation Western Cape option!

7. For couples: Fynbos Cabins
Decked out in woods and stone, the Fynbos Cabins are destined for lovers wanting to escape for the weekend, but can’t bear to leave their pooches behind. Vast open space surrounds you, and when the stars come out to play at night, you feel like a drop in the universe staring up at the night’s sky.
On that note, warm up the outdoor hot tub, grab your drinks, and turn the occasion into romantic evening moments.

The cabins are exquisite, defining the word tasteful…King-sized beds are super plush, floor-to-ceiling glass windows create the perfect sunrise moment over the fynbos fields — without having to leave your bed (yay to snuggles and cuddles from your partner AND doggies) — and each unit has a fireplace right near the bed for those extra chilly Western Cape nights! I loveee the rain shower, too! Breakfast is included.
P.S. It’s crazy to think you’re this close to the ocean, which is kinda cool. It’s like the best of all worlds!
